We will leave tomorrow and I need to teach Justin how to drive a stick shift. I am pretty nervous and I am kind of scared by my own courage, It is a very long time to travel and I don't know whether I will really enjoy it, but now it is a bit late and I will have to go for it.

I had to get some shade so I rested an hour in the dirt under a bridge, As soon as I got comfortable a border patrol truck came roaming off the street but they determined in a blink of an eye that I am no Mexican and didn't even bother to stop.

so in my slightly drunk state, I talked to my three room neighbors and found out that they are already for weeks in this motel as they work for this wind energie company and they have to service the Danish turbines. But they are from Bakersfield, in heavy rock and they do this only for the money - you know. 120$ allowance for food and accomodation. If you do this right you have leftovers and the normal wages as well.

I asked this man on the highest peak today to take a picture of me and he took the camera, shot , looked at it, said "perfect" and gave the camara satisfied with himself back to me. Later I tried to use it and it was so blurry, that you couldn't even recognize me: smug ass.

- I am pretty old and in order to prove to myself that I can pull something off, I intend to cross this continent on my bicycle. the blog is here to chronicle that. It will be written in English and German in order to make it readable to people here as well as in the old country (I always wanted to say that some day). It would be wrong to assume that the German text is a translation of the English one. So in order to understand most of it, it's better to speak both languages.
